Silke Kruse- Weber
was professor for instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz until September 2022. Besides, she was head of the institute for music education and for the curriculum committee for instrumental and vocal pedagogy. From October 2023 she will hold a substitute professorship for instrumental- and vocal pedagogy at the university of Augsburg, Leopold Mozart College. Her work focuses on the training of instrumental and vocal teachers, the development of curricula in instrumental and vocal pedagogy, the promotion of reflection practice in higher music education. Current research projects are focused on the transfer of knowledge through collaborative reflection in professional teachers' development, The research interest includes historical piano pedagogy, the development of instrumental and vocal pedagogy as a scientific discipline and the transfer of knowledge between theory and practice through Reflective Practice. The practical work currently focuses on observation, reflection and further development of instrumental and vocal teaching (videotaped teaching sequences) using the reflection tool Reflect! which was just published.
Silke Kruse- Weber has an artistic and a pedagogical piano diploma as well as a master’s degree in musicology, philosophy and theater studies and a doctorate in music pedagogy. The subject of her dissertation was Piano pedagogy in the first three decades of the 20th century (2005).
